My first job in IT was to punch the paper tape to enable us to boot the mainframe! I've worked on a variety of different systems using several different programming languages. Currently I'm working on .NET using VB.NET; however the language really isn't that important, what is important is delivering 'quality apllications' to ensure that the business meets its objectives.

I started out in IT in the early eighties as a trainee for a Building Society and was fortunate enough to be in the right place and the right time to get quickly promoted [I always seem to have this knack, so I guess that I am very lucky]. After a couple of years I moved on to a more senior position, which is where I started to get involved with software development methods and also began to relaise that the 'Waterfall method' really wasn't appropriate for the type of software development that I was involved with. Around this time I began studying for a Master of Science Degree and since then I seem to have become hooked on learning, which I guess as I work in an industry that changes every couple of years that is a good thing.

Since I passed my masters I was able to exploit this qualificatiopn and have since become involved in a variety of different professional bodies. I hold the following professional accreditations:

MBCS - Member of the British Computer Society

CITP - Chartered IT Professional

MIET - Member of the Institute of Engineerign and Technology

MAPM - Member of the Association for Project Management

MCQI - Member of the Chartered Quality Institute

MCSD - Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer

SCJP - Sun Certified Java Programmer

I am also a certfied Prince 2 practitioner and a Certified Scrum Master [Obviously, otherwise why would I be here?].

 Yes, I know it is a lot but I beleive in the fact that if you've got it flaunt it. I worked hard to obtain these accreditations and I am proud of the fact that I have a good rounded IT education.
