Marco holds a cum laude MSc in computer science and has 12 years of experience in the IT industry. Marco's experience with Agile dates back to 2001, when he worked at OTI on Eclipse related projects. At Xebia, Marco was Scum Master on one of Xebia’s most successful Scrum projects, with three Scrum teams working distributed between Netherlands and India. A case study on this project has been published by Jeff Sutherland et al. On this project, Marco helped to develop most of the current Xebia practices for distributed development. With these practices, Xebia achieves high performance teams, linear scalability and outstanding quality. Since then, Marco helps companies implement Scrum the right way as an Agile coach and trainer. A quote of one of the customers: “Thanks to Marco, business and IT finally work together much more effectively”. Also his CSM trainings with Jeff Sutherland consistently have high rankings. On top of that Marco performs management workshops to help management understand why Agile can be of value to them. Marco is also a very passionate chairman of nlscrum, the number one Dutch Scrum user Group with over 500 members.
