Jessica Loredo
I started my career as an artist and received my bachelor’s from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Studio Art and English (creative writing). After this, I knew I wanted to work in a creative technological field and so applied at the Guildhall at SMU in Plano, TX. I moved there to attend the graduate level program in game art, and achieved my Master’s in Interactive Technology (game artist). However, with learning about the craft, I also learned about the volatility of the game industry, and sought a more secure career path, which is what landed me in business software as a user interface designer.
I work within a technical software group creating internal software for a global corporation. My main task as a design & usability lead is to ensure the quality of our user experience within our products. I moonlight as a PO when needed, but mostly I find just learning about the agile and scrum process interesting and extremely useful within my day to day work. We have been practicing agile and scrum for about six months (at the time I wrote this bio) and have seen how it improves our work environment immensely. I am excited about continuing to learn and grow as an agile and scrum team member and welcome any questions regarding my experience as such.
*Update*
I have switched cities! I am now on a large design team experiencing how corporations with multiple solutions implement agile development on a very broad scale. I use my skills learned from the certification class frequently, and am able to provide guidance to other team members when it comes to agile development.
