Brent W. Reid - I have a BS degree in Computer Science from Utah State University (USU) and a MS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC). I have spent the last 28 years working for a large system development company where agile values, principles and practices are not well received or understood. I've spent many years working to change the culture in the company and the industry to be more receptive to agile values and principles. I've also worked to define ways in which large system development programs can apply agile values and principles in software component and subsystem development methodologies. Changing culture in large companies that support large government programs is a challenge to say the least. Progress is being made, but progress is slow in coming. I continue to believe that the open system management approach enhanced by agile principles and practices is a far better development management approach than the top down, command and control, authoritarian approaches embraced by most large system development companies. It creates a better environment in which to work, a more motivated team and a higher quality end product. And so, I keep working to bring about cultural change...
