Subhash Bana is Vice-President – India Research & Development (R&D). In his role as Head of India R&D, Subhash’s prime responsibility is driving excellence in engineering performance across product units, including best-in-class R&D product delivery, quality and innovation, contribute to global the product portfolio strategy and the execution plans to develop products & solutions for emerging markets, Subhash also spearheads best practices for high-quality future-ready talent development for the India R&D teams.
Subhash has over 26 years of rich experience in industries such as Defense, Telecom, Media and Entertainment having worked across roles with multicultural global teams and Indian customers. Achieving strategic operational excellence, synergistic with sustainable aggressive business goals through building of self-motivated creative teams is one of his core expertises. Most recently, Subhash worked with Thomson (now called Technicolor), where he was the Vice President & General Manager for the company’s business operations in India & Sri Lanka. During his tenure with Thomson, he led the organization to grow multifold in profitable revenues.
Before joining Thomson in 2007, Subhash worked with Alcatel-Lucent in various capacities for 14 years. His last assignment with Alcatel-Lucent was as Managing Director of Alcatel Development India and VP of Corporate R&D Resource Strategy & Management function. He spearheaded the growth of India R&D from a small competence center to a large world-class software R&D centre of excellence contributing to multiple global product lines.
In his initial professional career, Subhash played leading roles in large software projects in organizations like Tata Electric Companies in Bombay and the prestigious Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) in Hyderabad.
An avid reader of global business models, Subhash keeps himself abreast of telecom technology, markets and underlying global socio-economic drivers. He is a regular speaker on various industry and educational forums, with special interest in supernormal business returns through strategic value positioning and effective human capital management. He is very passionate towards use of technology for personal and organizational efficiency improvements.
Subhash holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal and is also a Post Graduate in Management from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
