Prerequisites Prior to attending the course, students should have read the Scrum Guide. The guide is available for download at no cost at: http://www.scrumalliance.org/resources
Intended For Individuals who will work on a Scrum development team. The course has a strong emphasis on the role of the ScrumMaster.
Certification Process Currently, an individual is certified when he or she has attended, participated in, and completed a Certified ScrumMaster course. If the trainer has opted you in for the CSM exam, you must complete and pass the exam to completed the certification process. 
Certification Duration The online Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) exam will launch October 1, 2009. For more details, click here.

Recertification Process

To recertify, CSMs are required to pass the CSM exam and pay a $150 recertification fee.

Membership Fees

While membership in the Scrum Alliance is independent of certification, membership currently is available only to those who have attended a CSM or CSPO course. A two-year membership to the Scrum Alliance is included in the cost of attending a CSM course. The membership fee is waived for those CSMs who recertify or who have obtained a higher level certification (CSP, CSC, or CST) after two years.
