Value of Becoming a Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)

Taking a course introduces you to the basic concepts, practices, and principles you need to fulfill your role on the Scrum team. But there are certain things about an agile approach like Scrum that are only learned through time, experience, and continuous learning. If you are an active CSM, CSPO, or CSD who has reached that next level of experience and expertise in the art of Scrum, have your expertise recognized by earning the Certified Scrum Professional credential.

Two Ways to Get CSP Certified. Pick One!

Because every Scrum practitioner is unique, you now have a choice in how you can satisfy the requirements for the CSP credential. Beginning in 2013, we've introduced an alternative method to our CSP exam process. It's currently a pilot program based on a professional development approach called Scrum Education Units (SEUs).

WHY A PILOT PROGRAM FOR SEUs?

In an effort to improve our education program, we are testing the Scrum Education Unit (SEU) model to determine if there is value in offering an alternative learning path. The pilot is a learning opportunity; we will adapt and inspect based on the feedback from those who become part of the pilot.

EARNING SEUs

Probably you're wondering how you'll get SEUs and how many you need to attain the CSP credential. It's simple: SEUs are based on a 1:1 credit-hour system. For each contact hour you invest in your Agile or Scrum education, you will get 1 SEU credit. Go to a Scrum Gathering and participate the whole day? You earn 8 SEU credits.

In order to earn the CSP, you'll need 60 SEU credits, of which up to 15 can come from education outside the Scrum Alliance.

Certification Duration

Two years.

Renewal of CSP certification automatically incorporates lower-level certifications such as CSM, CSPO and CSD.
