DEVcamp08
What: full-day conference for professional .NET developers
When: October 21, 2008
Where: Vienna, Austria
Who should attend: Although strongly geared toward .NET developers, this conference also targets CTOs and project managers
Content:
the conference covers current and upcoming (mostly Microsoft) technologies and best practices. One of the objectives is that attendees should be able to use the knowledge they gain at DEVcamp in their own projects, either right away or within the foreseeable future. Concrete solutions take precedence over theoretical pontificating. The conference is split into 3 tracks:
Track 1: Data
Software developers are of course confronted with vast quantities of data. The challenge is how to tap that data in a way that extracts meaningful information from it. This track blurs the boundaries between database and entities to demonstrate how that challenge can be mastered.Track 2: Best Practices
Lack of technical knowledge is rarely the root cause when projects fail. Methodological approaches are far more likely to play a determining in the success or failure of a project. Unfortunately, the knowledge necessary for this is not nearly as quickly acquired as merely mastering technologies and tools. On the upside, this type of knowledge is both long-lasting and representative of the true value of experienced developers. This track covers methodological approaches, based on practical project experience.Track 3: Trends and Technology
New technologies pop up like mushrooms, but many developers have neither the time nor the resources to thoroughly evaluate those technologies that might otherwise prove to be irreplaceable in their projects. This track introduces up and coming tools and technologies.
