Certified ScrumMaster
All CSM courses are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers. Taking a CSM course, passing the CSM test, and accepting the license agreement designates you as a Certified ScrumMaster, which indicates that you have been introduced to and understand the basic concepts you need to perform as a ScrumMaster or team member on a Scrum team. This course also satisfies two elements of the CSD track: Scrum Introduction and Elective.
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Class gives you all the tools and information you need to effectively apply Agile Scrum principles to your project. By the end of the training students can expect to understand the basics of Scrum including the roles, the rhythms and the artifacts that make up Scrum. They will understand the mechanism of empirical process control and how it works in Scrum. They will understand the function of the Scrum team and understand how Scrum harnesses the power of teams to complete work. They will understand what factors influence the acceptance of Scrum and ways that it can become dysfunctional. They will understand how Scrum is practically used on various kinds of projects.
They will learn how to:
- Manage Product Backlogs
- Plan Releases and Iterations (Sprints)
- Conduct Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews & Retrospective meetings
- Track and Report progress
- Effectively apply the principles of the Agile Manifesto

Each student who successfully completes this two-day training will be acknowledged by the Scrum Alliance as a Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
The primary mechanism for the training is experience. Teams of students work together as Scrum teams to explore the mechanisms of Scrum through their experience. Simulation exercises are held through out the two-day training that are designed to allow students to learn specific aspects of Scrum. There is little Power Point in these trainings!
Students are not expected to have any knowledge of Scrum prior to the training. They will be asked to read a short paper about Scrum prior to the training.
