Learn the essentials of working as a ScrumMaster or Scrum team member in this course. While the Scrum Alliance provides a list of core concepts that must be covered in the class, each instructor creates his or her own material, allowing courses to differ based on the strengths, interests, and experiences of the instructor. This course is sponsored by the Scrum Training Institute and will be taught by Jeff Sutherland, Co-Creator of Scrum, and Gabrielle Benefield. Jeff invented Scrum at Easel Corporation in 1993 and worked with Scrum Co-Creator Ken Schwaber, to formalize the Scrum development process at OOPSLA’95. In 2001, Jeff and Ken were signatories of the Agile Manifesto. You will hear directly from one of the founders of Agile software development on how to implement best practices in your organization. In addition to the Scrum Certification material Jeff will discuss his latest papers for Agile 2009. These will provide real world experience on how new ScrumMasters can implement world class teams. Please arrive at 8:30 each day for a continental breakfast. Participants should read Ken Schwaber’s book, Agile Project Management with Scrum, or Jeff Sutherland’s draft of The Scrum Papers before the class as we will assume you know the basics of Scrum. Following the course, each participant is enrolled as a Certified ScrumMaster, which includes a one-year membership in the Scrum Alliance, where additional Certified ScrumMaster-only material and information are available. The book, Agile Project Management with Scrum, by Ken Schwaber is required reading for the course and the course is based on the primary Scrum book, Agile Development with Scrum. Of course, there will be updated material and training exercises in the course which you cannot get from books. About the Instructors: Jeff Sutherland is the co-creator of Scrum He started the first Scrum at Easel Corporation in 1993. He worked with Ken Schwaber to emerge Scrum as a formal process at OOPSLA ’95. Together, they extended and enhanced Scrum at many software companies and IT organizations and helped write the Agile Manifesto. Gabrielle was Senior Director of Agile Development at Yahoo! leading Yahoo!’s large-scale corporate adoption of Scrum, which now encompasses more than 200 teams projects and over 1500 employees in the US, India, Europe, and Asia.
