Scrum Coaching Retreat Raleigh, North Carolina

  • Event
Note: The retreat is now SOLD OUT. However, there is still space in the pre-retreat Workshops.

Join us in Raleigh, North Carolina as we engage in deep discussions and experimentation on important Agile coaching topics. Scrum is an empirical process, just as the process that the Wright Brothers used to experiment with flight was an empirical process. As we gain experience in coaching, we reflect on this experience and work together to understand how we can help one another to improve.

This event is NOT restricted to CSCs only. We welcome anyone who has a passion to explore and improve their coaching approach.

Space still available: Don’t miss the pre-retreat workshops on Oct. 27-28. See the Program tab for more details.

  • Program
    PRE-RETREAT WORKSHOPS: OCTOBER 27-28

Title: Agile Success with Open Agile Adoption™
    Facilitator: Daniel Mezick
    Dates: Oct. 27-28
    Cost: $600
Description: This is a two-day experiential course on creating rapid and lasting Agile adoptions across multiple teams, using the Open Agile Adoption technique as described in the book The Open Agile Adoption Handbook. The author, Daniel Mezick, is your instructor. The class includes ten experiential exercises, books from the instructor, and 30 days of support via email after the class.

The successful Agile adoptions are powered by human engagement. Improvements in morale, productivity, quality, and predictability follow. This course teaches how to achieve very high levels of engagement in your Agile adoption, leading to strong improvement in everything you are measuring.

Note: You can earn 14 SEUs in Category A by attending this pre-retreat workshop. Further SEUs can be gained by attending the retreat itself.

Title: Mastering the Ultimate Coaching Tool: Your Self
Facilitators: Lyssa Adkins, Michael Spayd, and Michael Hamman
    Dates: Oct. 27-28
    Cost: $600
Description: As an agent of individual, team, and organizational transformation, no arrow in our quiver is more powerful than our very selves! Developing and improving our self as a tool involves self-awareness, managing our reactions, and deepening our awareness of both individuals and human systems.

Our material for the workshop will be the most resonant Agile coaching dilemmas you face, as decided by participants. We will use a combination of advanced coaching techniques (systemic constellations, professional coaching in a fishbowl, systems coaching exercises, and shadow work) to explore the various dilemmas in both individual and group formats. The scope of dilemmas can range from focusing on a single individual in transition, to leaders "not getting it" to organizational culture constraints.

This first-ever workshop will be co-led and facilitated by three deeply experienced enterprise Agile coaches: Lyssa Adkins, Michael Spayd, and Michael Hamman. Come join us for this insightful, provocative, and fun two days!

Note: You can earn 14 SEUs in Category A by attending this pre-retreat workshop. Further SEUs can be gained by attending the retreat itself.

Does it always happen in Raleigh, North Carolina. Are there other locations planned
    Daniel Gullo, CST,CSC,CSP,CSM,CSPO,REP, 4/17/2014 5:45:03 PM
Bob Galen and I are co-chairing this retreat.

Final details are now posted on this site for Raleigh.

The Retreats are open to ALL who are interested, not just CSCs.

There are two other Retreats this year: London and Thailand. Next year, we are planning at least 5 retreats at various locations around the globe, which are currently being finalized.

For the pre-workshops I do not see times listed, only that they have the same dates. Does this mean that participants cannot do both but have to choose one or the other?

Is there more detail on what the actual program is, what we will be doing, and how it can enhance what I'm currently doing?
    William Krebs, CSP,CSM, 6/11/2014 12:52:33 PM
Looks like a great event. We have a lot of Agile Activity in the area, and it will be great to chat with folks from far away as well. I would take the pre sessions too, but I've already had Lyssia's Coaching Agile Teams course - which has been useful in my work. See you in October!...AgileBill

The workshops are all-day. You must pick one or the other. These are separately priced from the main part of the Retreat.

The agenda/program for Scrum Coaching Retreats is emergent, that is, the participants build the agenda based upon key topics and a desire for a deeper dive to explore together. Thus, we will be sending out links to a pre-retreat collaboration site so that the attendees can begin proposing topics and fleshing those out a bit before the actual in-person retreat. It can enhance what you are doing today by bringing questions or other problems you want to explore further with like-minded people of various and diverse backgrounds.
