    Excella's Advanced Certififed Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) - Agile Business Analysis (BA) course will cover the fundamentals of being a Product Owner while focusing on the role of the Business Analyst working in an Agile context.  This includes discovering the business need to ensuring the product or system is delivered according to business expectations. This interactive and engaging two-day session will highlight techniques used to elicit requirements and validate functionality against acceptance criteria. Common agile analysis best practices and challenges will be addressed and supplemented by group discussion with fellow analysis practitioners.

    Though each CSPO course varies depending on the instructor, all Certified Scrum Product Owner® courses focus on Scrum from a product owner's perspective. Graduates will receive the CSPO designation. All CSPO course are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers.

    What’s In It For You

    Upon completion of the course, students will be credentialed as Certified Scrum Product Owners (CSPO). Additionally, this course counts towards 14 PMI Professional Development Units (PDUs)/contact hours, 14 IIBA Continuing Development Units (CDUs)/contact hours, and 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs).

    About Your Trainers

    Richard Cheng, Principal Consultant at Excella Consulting, provides consulting services to commercial and federal clients in the Washington, DC area. Richard coaches, mentors, and trains clients in understanding and implementing Agile and Scrum. He also leads Excella’s Agile Center of Excellence.

    A graduate of Virginia Tech, Richard has authored several publications on project management, presented at Agile and PMI sponsored industry events, is a member of Mensa, and holds certifications including Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) and Project Management Professional (PMP).  Richard is a founder and on the executive committee of the Agile Defense Adoption Proponents Team (ADAPT).

     

    Price, Date, and Location

    The registration fee for this two-day course is $1,300 (inclusive of all taxes and fees).  This fee includes:

    • Certification fees
    • 2 year membership to the ScrumAlliance
    • Training manuals and supplies
    • Hot breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snacks
    • Validated parking in the Navy League Building parking garge (the basement garage of the training location)

     

    You may pay online via credit card or request that Excella invoice you if you have an existing billing arrangement with Excella.

    Registration is now open.  Classes on both days will take place from 9am – 5pm at Excella Consulting at 2300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 630, Arlington, Virginia (located at the Courthouse Metro stop on the Orange Line).  Parking is available in the building and will be validated.  Light breakfast will be available at 8:00am each day and lunch will also be provided.

     

    Cancellation Policy

    Students submitting cancellation requests 5 business days or more prior to the start of the course are entitled to a full refund.  Students submitting cancellation requests less than 5 business days prior to the start of the course will be issued credit toward a future Excella training course.  The credit will be equal to the amount paid for the initial course less any applicable fees.  Should the organizer cancel the course for any reason, each registered students will be refunded 100% of the registration cost he/she paid.

    This course starts with a brief overview of the Agile and Scrum frameworks, along with the Product Owner Role. From there, the curriculum includes:

    • Scrum and Product Ownership
    • BA Role on an Agile team
    • How a BA fits into Scrum ceremonies
    • Requirement elicitation, analysis and modeling
    • Requirement verification and validation, including Specification by Example
    • Techniques for eliciting requirements
    • Lightweight specifications
    • Functional vs. non-functional requirements

    The class is great for current Scrum Product Owners, business analysts, ScrumMasters, testers or anyone involved with creating requirements, gathering needs, and managing products.

     

    Note: The advanced CSPO course assumes that attendees already have a basic understanding of Scrum via our Agile and Scrum in a Day course, a Certified ScrumMaster course, or equivalent Scrum experience.
