    As companies increasingly adopt agile methods, the role of the product owner becomes ever critical in the timely development of product. Traditionally, product owners (either the actual customer or an internal representation thereof) gather requirements in the usual ways and hand them over to the team to deliver; usually, there is very little or no contact with delivery team members in these traditional scenarios. 

    Agile changes this in that the product owner directly drives development. Whereas a traditional project manager would make decisions about scope, time and cost, product owners own these decisions in the agile world. 

    This course introduces the product owner to Scrum as well as helps them understand their role and responsibilities in helping the team deliver high-quality software that meets users’ needs. 

    As a result of this course, Product Owners will have the knowledge to create product backlogs and will know how to engage with the delivery team at various stages in a project. Upon taking the course, and based upon favorable interaction and engagement of the participant, the participant will become a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) as recognized by the ScrumAlliance (http://www.scrumalliance.org/pages/faq_training_and_certification). 

     

    Though each CSPO course varies depending on the instructor, all Certified Scrum Product Owner courses focus on Scrum from a product owner's perspective. Graduates will receive the CSPO designation. All CSPO course are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers.

    1. understand the difference in philosophy and practice of Scrum vs. traditional project management techniques by participation in a series of hands-on learning exercises.
    2. understand the ideas behind just-in-time requirements elaboration, and will also learn how to balance this with agile planning techniques.
    3. learn how to identify customers’ needs and how to keep them engaged during a product development process.
    4. learn different techniques for estimation for different points in time in the project. 
    5. Participants will learn the importance of a well-organized, prioritized product backlog. 
    6. learn how agile teams write requirements, as well as their role in product visioning, roadmapping, release/iteration planning and acceptance of product at a product review. 
    7. learn how to formulate an agile release communications plan
