The rules of Scrum are easy. Implementing them is hard. If you want to learn both, this is the course for you. Dr. Jeff Sutherland, who will be leading the course, ran the first Scrum team in 1993, and has been the driving force behind it for nearly twenty years.
Product ownership is one of the most difficult and critical roles in Scrum. While the role responsibilities of the product owner can be described simply enough, very little is said about the day-to-day practice for those filling the role. If you’re a Product Owner, you’re likely wrestling with competing demands for time and information from your team, and stakeholders. You’re likely working long hours to try to keep up with work that’s different than anything you’ve done before.
The Product Owner is crucial to the success of any Agile implantation. Scrum Inc. coaches Product Owners in a wide variety of areas: sales, marketing, finance, client services, senior management teams, investment groups, and non-profit organizations as well as software development teams. This course attracts managers, C-level executives, and product, project, and program managers looking to make the change to an Agile environment.
You will learn the essential concepts and tools of Scrum, how to maximize value for the business, how your role will interact with Agile teams and how the organization can support the Product Owner. The class is extremely pragmatic, through a combination of theory and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to effectively manage and prioritize product backlogs, plan releases and sprints, track and report progress, quantify value and scale Scrum to program-level efforts.
Before the course, please read The Power of Scrum, a fast-paced novel that demonstrates how Scrum works in a narrative format. We also recommend you read the canonical Scrum Guide. You will get more out of the course if you are familiar with the basic Scrum concepts.
The Product Owner class will touch on the basics of Scrum briefly then take the participants through an immersive and intense two-day workshop to understand how the product development flow works within the Scrum context.
At least one member of the Scrum Inc. team will be onsite to help with the course and any additional individual questions you may have.
This two-day Product Owner certification course provides everything you need to work effectively with a Scrum team. On completion, participants are registered as Certified Product Owners (CPOs), which includes a one-year membership in the Scrum Alliance.
You can apply for 16 PMP PDUs with the Project Management Institute, satisfying 16 of the required 21 training hours for the newPMI-ACP (PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner)

The course will run 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Thursday and Friday. Please arrive at 8:30 each day for a continental breakfast.
Though each CSPO course varies depending on the instructor, all Certified Scrum Product Owner courses focus on Scrum from a product owner's perspective. Graduates will receive the CSPO designation. All CSPO course are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers.
