    Not Your Grandma's Scrum Class

Who wants to snooze through 14 hours of PowerPoint?

Not all Certified ScrumMaster courses are created equal. With Agile Learning Labs, you will participate in project simulations and game-based learning exercises, so you can learn by doing.

Chris Sims is famous for his unique style of teaching through innovative games and simulations--in fact, the entire class is run using the tools and techniques you'll be studying, so you'll have completed an actual scrum project by the time you graduate. You'll also come away with a list of "Aha!" moments as long as your arm, all of which will be things you discovered yourself, while actually doing scrum.

Every student takes home a copy of Chris' book, The Elements of Scrum, which is used as a textbook in colleges and by other scrum trainers. You can read the first chapter, A Week In The Life of a Scrum Team online, or check out the five-star reviews on Amazon.

    Testimonials from past participants:

“By far the best, most illuminating professional improvement course I’ve ever taken.”

“The combination of relevant exercises, clear lectures and real Scrum methodology was superb. We also had excellent class participation.”

“The content was relevant and the exercises drove home the information in a way that I felt clarity about what was being taught.”

“Nice to actually do scrum while learning about it–we learned more from each other than I would from a standard lecture format.”

“This course met and exceeded my expectations–now I feel prepared for working on a scrum team with confidence!”

    Get Your PMI PDUs

Many of our students are members of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and are interested in claiming Professional Development Units (PDUs) or contact hours. You are eligible to receive a whopping 14 PDUs or contact hours, and we'll give you everything you need to claim them.

PMP is a registered mark of the Project Management Institute, Inc.

All CSM courses are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers. Taking a CSM course, passing the CSM test, and accepting the license agreement designates you as a Certified ScrumMaster, which indicates that you have been introduced to and understand the basic concepts you need to perform as a ScrumMaster or team member on a Scrum team. This course also satisfies two elements of the CSD track: Scrum Introduction and Elective.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What should I wear?

Relax, this is Agile Learning Labs, not Dunder Mifflin or Initech. We'll be wearing jeans, and you can be, too.

    What should I bring?

Just yourself. You don't need a laptop, although you are free to bring one.

When do we start and end each day?

The classroom opens at 8:30 AM each day and class will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. We will end at 5:00 PM each day.

    Will there be food?

We'll be providing a non-sugary breakfast, lunch, all-day beverages and snacks both days. Vegetarian options will be available, and you are also welcome to bring in your own food.

Will I be able to check email?

    Yes, there will be wifi.

Is there something I should read before the workshop?

When you take any Agile Learning Labs scrum certification class, you will receive a bound copy of Chris' book, The Elements of Scrum on the first day of class. This book is a field guide to the real-world application of scrum. We recommend you prepare for the workshop by reading the first chapter online: A Week in the Life of a Scrum Team.

I'm an introvert who is not so big on the whole audience participation thing. Will this class make me uncomfortable?

Participation in any physical exercise is of course optional--in fact the role of "observer" is quite valuable, so feel free to participate at your ability and comfort levels. Remember, it's the software industry, so you won't be the only introvert in the room.

    Do you offer a guarantee?

We guarantee our services unconditionally. If you aren't satisfied, we aren't either, and we'll work with you to make it right, up to and including your money back.

    What is your refund policy?

We offer a full refund, at any time, for any reason--so if you've got the flu, don't feel you have to drag yourself to class.

What if I have more questions?

Feel free to email us at info@agilelearninglabs.com.
