    3 day course!

    About the Course

This three-day Certified Scrum Master course covers the what, how and especially the whys of the Scrum framework for product development -- from the theory to practice. The course is structured around stories and discussions and is targetted to anyone who wants a deep understanding of Scrum. This includes team members, ProductOwners, ScrumMasters and other stakeholders. Most of the course is given from the ScrumMasters perspective.

The course lasts 3 days from 9 to 18. The first days content is more conceptual. It covers background, overview, roles, emperical process control, and the key differences between Scrum and other ways of developing new products. It also contains common impacts to the larger organization. The second days content is practical and answers the how-to-do questions. How to do a backlog? How to plan? How to estimate? How to do a daily Scrum? How to scale? And so forth. At the end of the second day, the participant will have concrete knowledge on how to implement Scrum and an understanding of why to do it that way.

Basic knowledge about Scrum is expected and some experience prefered. At minimum read the great introduction to Scrum: the Scrum Primer

    About the Instructors

    Main instructor: Emerson Mills

I began my software development career in the CAD labs of the automotive industry in Detroit and spent most of my career working in Japan where many concepts that form the core of Scrum initially took root. I’ve worked in traditional Japanese firms, small startups, US Internet giants and Game studios collecting a wide variety of experience to drive my coaching and trainings.

My first experience with Scrum came at Amazon.com in Seattle where I initially opposed Scrum but soon grew interested in growing the implementation as the benefits to the organization and my team became increasingly obvious. After successfully completing a number of successful product launches with Scrum with Amazon in Seattle, I transitioned back to Japan with Amazon starting a ground up Scrum implementation in the mobile development team.

My next step was as CTO at Orinoco K.K.  where I implemented a day one Scrum environment and used the company as a test bed for progressive agile techniques.

I'm one of the founding members of the Odd-e presence in Japan and focus on coaching and training teams and organizations in a wide number of industries across Asia.

    Co-trainer: Mike Mallete

Mike Mallete was one-fifth of the global Agile Coaching team for the biggest multinational corporation in the travel industry. That particular team boasts of 50 years of combined experience in Agile Software Development -- having trained, mentored and coached over 100 member teams across four continents, from senior management to junior developers.

Aside from overseeing the consulting business of Orange and Bronze as Vice President for Consulting Services, he still actively trains and coaches dozens of teams from local and multinational companies. For both software engineering skills and technique, and Agile Software Development methodology.

He had been involved in various open source efforts, starting from his earliest open source project, S2PFace, in the early 2000's, up to his most current ones Grails SoundManager Plugin and Robot Framework Maven Plugin.

All CSM courses are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers. Taking a CSM course, passing the CSM test, and accepting the license agreement designates you as a Certified ScrumMaster, which indicates that you have been introduced to and understand the basic concepts you need to perform as a ScrumMaster or team member on a Scrum team. This course also satisfies two elements of the CSD track: Scrum Introduction and Elective.
