This two-day Certified Scrum Master course provides a look into the what, how and especially the whys of Scrum. It'll cover the theory and history of Scrum and also the practical side, mostly by stories by the trainer and discussions in the group. The course is useful for anyone who would like to know Scrum in depth, including team members, product owners, scrum masters and other stakeholders. Though the course will be given mostly from the Scrum masters perspective.
The course length is 2 days. The first day will cover the conceptual backgrounds of Scrum and how the roles in Scrum differ from what is often seen in organizations and how this will impact the organization. The second day will cover the how-to-do things and look in detail in the different parts of the Scrum framework.
Basic knowledge of Scrum is expected and some experience preferred. A prerequisite reading for the course is the Scrum Guide at http://www.scrum.org/scrumguides . Before the CSM, we also recommend reading the book Agile Project Management with Scrum by Ken Schwaber (ISBN: 073561993X). Another great introduction to Scrum is the Scrum Primer by Pete Deemer at http://www.scrumprimer.com/
Following completion (within 90 days) of the course, participants will be asked to take an online test as a part of CSM certification. You will be notified by email about this test from the Scrum Alliance. The test concentrates on the fundamentals of Scrum. Your official guide for preparing for the exam is the Scrum Guide (http://www.scrumalliance.org/resource_download/598). Reading and studying the guide as a preparation for taking the test is strongly encouraged.
This course is held in English.
All CSM courses are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers. Taking a CSM course, passing the CSM test, and accepting the license agreement designates you as a Certified ScrumMaster, which indicates that you have been introduced to and understand the basic concepts you need to perform as a ScrumMaster or team member on a Scrum team. This course also satisfies two elements of the CSD track: Scrum Introduction and Elective.
