This course will be held in English.

This 2-day Certified Scrum Master course provides a look into the whathow and especially thewhy(s) of Scrum. It'll cover the theory, background and motivation of Scrum as well as the practical mechanics of implementing Scrum through a mixture of presentation, story telling, group discussion, and interactive exercises.

Our training methods lean on active, participative learning techniques based on a combination of new concepts, first-hand experience in applying the concepts through group exercises, and reflective thinking around those experiences. Brain science shows that the most effective way to learn is a combination of active doing and questioning, building on what we already know and focusing attention to topics that participants have a native interest in.

Following completion (within 90 days) of the course, participants will be asked to take an online test as a part of CSM certification. You will be notified by email about this test from the Scrum Alliance. The test concentrates on the fundamentals of Scrum. Your official guide for preparing for the exam is the Scrum article on Agile Atlas. Reading and studying this document as a preparation for taking the test is strongly encouraged.

All CSM courses are taught by Certified Scrum Trainers. Taking a CSM course, passing the CSM test, and accepting the license agreement designates you as a Certified ScrumMaster, which indicates that you have been introduced to and understand the basic concepts you need to perform as a ScrumMaster or team member on a Scrum team. This course also satisfies two elements of the CSD track: Scrum Introduction and Elective.

  • Agenda

Scrum is a simple framework but hard to do well. This two-day training aims to provide participants a solid understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the Scrum elements. Each aspect of the Scrum framework is explored in terms of its principles, its relation to the rest of the framework and how it can be implemented in practice.

The first day will cover the conceptual backgrounds of Scrum and how the roles in Scrum differ from what is often seen in organizations and how this will impact the organization. The second day will cover the how-to-do things and look in detail in the different parts of the Scrum framework.

The Certified Scrum Master training teaches participants, among other things:

    • The underlying thinking behind agile product development
    • An overview of the Scrum framework
    • Insight into the role of a ScrumMaster
    • The impact of quality in sustainable development
    • Increased transparency through a clear Definition of Done
    • The accountability of a Product Owner
    • Ordering a Product Backlog to deliver value early
    • Estimating work to support planning and forecasting the future
    • How to plan Sprints effectively
    • Making the most out of the Daily Scrum meetings
    • Foundations for an effective, useful Sprint Retrospective
  • Who Should Attend

While the course is designed primarily for Scrum Masters it is useful for anyone who would like to know Scrum in depth, including team members, Product Owners and other stakeholders.

Basic knowledge of Scrum is expected and some experience preferred. A prerequisite reading for the course is the Scrum article on Agile Atlas. We also recommend reading the book The Elements of Scrum by Chris Sims and Hillary Louise Johnson. Another great introduction to Scrum is the Scrum Primer by Pete Deemer.
