Biography

Vanessa Maike is a Master Candidate in Computer Science at the Institute of Computing (IC), University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Has a bachelor degree from the same university. Has worked on the industry with cellphone, web and Eclipse-based applications. Has a lot of experience with technical writing, the user-oriented documentation of a software. Is a Certified ScrumMaster and has enormous interest in the Software Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction fields.

Her academic interests include Human-Computer Interaction, Edutainment, Educational Computing, Educational Games, Interactive Storytelling and Software Engineering. As a research project, Vanessa is working on the design, development and evaluation of an educational game made for the XO laptop, created by OLPC (One Laptop Per Child). Scrum will be applied on this project.

Work experience

NIED, Tutor
August 2010 - December 2010, Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil

Worked as a tutor in the UCA (Um Computador por Aluno) project, created by the brazilian government with the purpose of giving one laptop per child in the country's public schools. The job was to help the school teachers learn how to use the educational laptops and, therefore, include this technology in the classroom. Also worked on the websites that the UNICAMP project team used to store and share information.

Eldorado Research Institute, Software Analyst
February 2007 - September 2009, Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil

Started out as an intern in a cell-phone emulator project. Worked on several stages of the software development, from debugging until preparation of the delivery package.

After 8 months was promoted to software analyst trainee and worked as a technical writer for about one year. Produced user-centered documentation for Eclipse-based applications, using HTML, CSS and XML.

Lastly, worked for about six months on a .NET project as developer and tester. Used ASP.NET, SQL Server and C#.

IEL, Intern
February 2006 - November 2006, Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil

Web development for an e-learning course intended to help people improve their reading skills in English. Worked mostly with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and user support.
