Russell joined Walmart in 1989 as a cashier and worked his way through the cash office, UPC office and into the Assistant Manager Training program. He has worked as an assistant manager in field operations in Colorado Springs, CO and Little Rock, AR. While in Arkansas, he was selected to be the district trainer for the rollout of the SMART and UNIX systems in the early 90’s. He also brings several years of international IT experience from a financial banking software company where he functioned as a COBOL programmer, business analyst, test lead, project administrator and project manager in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; London, England; Mexico City; Bogota, Columbia; Trinidad & Tobago; Lima, Peru; and Shenzhen, China.
Upon his return to Walmart in 2008, Russell joined the People Systems group as a Business Analyst working on several different initiatives and assisting his team with project management in Clarity. He moved into the Project Specialist role where he worked on and lead multiple projects including Pay Admin – Management, Annual Enrollment, Compensation Management Tool (CMT), and HIPPA Remediation to name a few. Russell has played a significant role since being promoted into Strategic Services last year in the QMO. During his time here, he led the Product Warranty initiative as well as working with ISD Training and others within Strategic Services to manage the BA initiatives as they transitioned into QMO including the continuance of the BA Network Meeting, revitalization of the BA Core Team, developing the BA Roadmap, implementation of the BA Certification, and collaboration of the QA/BA organizations. He continues to challenge those around him to think outside the box and develop solutions that work not only in the U.S. but internationally as well.
Russell has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Ouachita Baptist University. He has two daughters attending the University of Arkansas and his wife is the Band Director at Lifeway Christian in Centerton. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their horses.
