I am a self-motivated IT professional that brings more than 20 years of information technology experience as well as outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to bear to solve real world problems and have a little fun while doing it. My primary focus has been on software development, but I also bring a deep understanding of database architecture, networking, server configuration, and hardware considerations to that process because I believe that the best products are created with a thorough understanding of both hardware and software. I am passionate about my work and believe that nearly every real-world problem can be overcome by an equal application of ingenuity and perseverance.
I have worn many hats throughout my career in both the public and private sector, but two things have always emerged as hallmarks of my style: cost-effective use of the most appropriate new technologies and openness to unconventional solutions to create value for my organization. Some examples include: using scheduling techniques and low-speed modems to create a virtual WAN that eliminated the need to install dedicated connections to sites spread across Europe; creating custom data processing tools to automatically normalize widely varying data sets that allowed my company to do the work of 30 people with just 3; using digital cameras to capture more than half a million onionskin documents that would not survive traditional scanning techniques, allowing those documents to be archived and their data incorporated into existing databases; applying computational heuristics to merge overlapping databases, allowing millions of rows of data in multiple schemas to be brought together into a single data warehouse and greatly reducing query complexity; inventing a new algorithm to quickly find n-generational interactions between animals as the move through the supply chain that reduced processing time by a factor of 40.
My current projects include project management for Lone Wolf Development on their Realm Works product, as well as developing my own inventions for the hobby gaming industry.
