Jorge currently acts as Team Leader of the Chilean Development group for SciVal, a suite of Elsevier's products. He also served as General Director of Knowledge Management at Universidad de Las Américas (2008), being responsible of Academic Internet Services and the Library System. Also, he teaches Knowledge Management at Computer Science Department of University of Chile (postgraduate course). He was one of the pioneers of Internet in Chile, participating in the initiation of Tecnonaútica Ltda. (one of the first Internet based software companies in the country) and in the initials efforts to adopt the Web in the Chilean Government trough his position in the National Commission of Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT), back in 1994. Before his current position, Jorge worked within CONICYT as technical advisor and Director of the Scientific Information Department (2005-2007) and previously as an information specialist for the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO, 2000-2004), being the coordinator of the methodologies and information technologies group at the Latin-American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information (BIREME/PAHO).
