John Toone, CSM I am Senior Project Manager, at RedGear Technologies. I have all development responsibilities for three software teams (too many!). Our combined forces consist of 3 IT staff members, 2 DBAs, 3 QA representatives, a Senior Architect, 1 contractor, and 8 Senior Software Engineers. I report to the Director of Technology.
In a nutshell, I provide leadership and clear obstacles for my software teams, as well as assist in the creation, delivery, and solution development. My forte is the ability to hold my ground when business struggles to provide requirements or wants to sneak solutions through without proper QA, and do this without coming across like a hard ass.
I am a new member of my company’s 9-Level group, a Senior Leadership team that provides company course direction. In this group I bring not just my core-expertise, by get to exercise my “soft skills”. I help this group to insure market demands and customer requests are translated successfully into development requirements.
I am in my fourth year in my current role, having come from ACS (now a part of the Xerox Global Outsourcing Group). I received my Bachelors degree, majoring in Technology Sales with an Accounting Minor.
I have my PMP hours accredited through the Project Manager Institute and am currently studying for my PMI certification. Though more than confident in a positive result, I don’t really want to take it, but feel I must to satisfy those who look at acronyms perhaps more than performance.
I am happily married and a father of three very active boys that keep me very busy. I enjoy coaching sports, gardening and farming.
I was raised by two great educator parents and farmers. I am still actively involved in my family’s 7,000 acre farming and hunting operation.
I love being part of the SCRUM Alliance and the direction it’s governing body is taking our organization.
