Biography

Justin Leader is focused on improving quality and productivity in the consumer and enterprise software industry. He specializes in solving organizational and process problems, including transforming process for large enterprise teams and scaling start-up organizations.

He is a Certified ScrumMaster with 10 years of experience leveraging project management and production experience in software, video games, television and live entertainment. As the Agile Transformation Coach for Go2Group, he has coached teams at enterprise-level technology firms, including Dell, Lockheed Martin, McGraw Hill, TravelPort, Informatica and Omnigon including private coaching and training. Engagements with corporate divisions of up to 3,500 staff include long and short-term assessments, customization of methodology, and building consensus among executive management and stakeholders. Implementations include software tools for new systems, intensive staff training and long-term coaching to measure and effect transitions with increased productivity. Additional work included sales at industry conventions to meet with current and potential clients.

Justin recently presented a lecture at the Casual Connect conference in San Francisco entitled “Production Methodologies and Tools for Small Studios.” Previously, he lead product production for Big Red Button, including managing development direction, publisher relations, operations, IT, QA and HR. 

Justin is currently the co-chair of the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Institute for the Pacific Southwest and has been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Melodramatics Theatre Company since 2004. Earlier, Justin worked on unannounced projects with Jerry Bruckheimer Games and did contract negotiations for the Strategic Sourcing division of NBC Universal under their Director, John Eicher.

Dell Computer – Consultant to Alienware and KACE divisions, responsible for process change planning and implementation, including customized Agile development methodology. During the 15-month engagement, the Dell teams coached have shipped over 25 hardware and multi-platform software products. Ongoing on-site and remote training and Agile coaching. Responsible for methodology strategy and Dell’s software development lifecycle management software (JIRA) customization, that supports, per year, 24,000 issues, 6,000+ users, and over 75 product releases.

95% of the 400 staff supported at Dell continue Agile methods after 12mo’s due to measured productivity gains

Development Direction – Acting as the lead producer and project manager through the prototype, pre-production, and full production phases responsible for the on-time, on-budget delivery of currently unannounced videogame software projects. Scaled company from startup staff of 14 to 65 plus foreign outsourcing for the 2,200 person-months workload and three year production schedule. Developed internal process standards and training for team managers and ScrumMasters. Built framework for long-term strategic planning. Customized adaptive and combination Agile Scrum, Kanban and waterfall software development methods and implemented phased adoption studio-wide.
