Biography

I am a Project Manager and Certified Scrum Master with in depth experience in Workflow and Business Process Management / engineering projects (BPM), IT projects and recently the MMI Redeployment Centre, created from the moratorium placed on MMI when Momentum and Metropolitan merged, to act as a staff placement agency, assisting in the  re-allocation of resources throughout the business, in an attempt to retrench as little staff as possible. During 2013 I have also been part of a team who assisted MMI with the Labour Relations Act, Section 189 processes, which needs to be followed when contemplating retrenchment of staff. The above project was a Business project, with involvement from HR and Industrial Relations, and reported directly into the MMI Exco.

 

I have been involved in 3 mergers of Life Assurance companies, fulfilling workflow, business process engineering, IT related and also Project Manager Roles in the Financial Services and Banking Industry. I am extremely interested in how staff handles change and I have the ability to facilitate change through getting staff involved and inspired to have insight in the bigger picture and end goal of any such changes, whether it is restructures or merely the change in work procedures, processes or systems.

 

I would be very interested to work for a company who doesn’t accept the Status Quo, but are always reaching for new heights, new challenges and who employs a team of people who are constantly taking a step into uncertain domains.

 

I have recently completed my Scrum Master training and certification and realized that I have been leading an agile team during my early years of workflow development. At that stage, shorter increments (sprints) and daily coffee-meetings (daily scrums) was just our way of working better and faster. I now realize that this was part of me challenging the Status Quo, many years ago. I therefore believe that I would be also able to lead a Scrum team, even though I do not have recent experience.

During the merger between Momentum and Metropolitan, in 2010, the Competition Tribunal imposed a moratorium on the newly formed MMI Group that no retrenchments of non-senior staff may happen for a period of 2 years. A Redeployment Centre / Redundancy Support Centre was created to assist as an internal placement agency for redundant staff, in order to limit retrenchments after the 2 year period. Functions included skills matching of staff to appropriate internal vacancies & facilitaion of the redeployment process to place staff back into other business units within MMI. Reputational Risk to the Group had to be managed and finally, the retrenchment of staff.

Momentum Wealth & RMB Unit Trust, Project Manager
November 2008 - October 2011, Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa
Project Management of various Projects on the Momentum Wealth Business, RMB Unit Trust Business and Momentum Annuities Business. Projects ranged from Marketing and Communication projects to Legislative and IT Projects. It also included a Fund Consolidation / Fund Closure Project, which is seen as acomplex project. I also assisted in a project to initially merge the RMB Unit Trust business into the Momentum Wealth business, wherafter this was merged (about 2 years later) with the Metropolitan Collective Investments Business, during which the main aim was to choose the future system (by means of a Request for Proposal from 2 vendors) and then to merge data and busines processes onto the chosen system.

FNB Shared Services & FNB Homeloans, Project Standards Team Leader (PMO),Business Process Analyst (BPM),Workflow Technical Design Team Leader,Senior Business Analyst

Workflow/Process Technical Design Team Leader: Large Scale Workflow & Business Process Management (Re-engineering) Project: Workflow: Responsible for Managing Workflow Specifications across FNB Shared Services division, which included Homeloans, Credit Card, Collections and Arrears, Contact Centres, IT, HR. Process: Process Analysis and Design for 1 of the largest projects running in the Bank at the time (to create a single system initially for Homeloans, but to be rolled out to the rest of Shared Services). After this project the aim was for all businesses to follow the same standard business processes, based on lean manufacturing processes. Business Practice Standards Team Leader:(looking at standards to be followed during Projects and Project Management) & Workflow/Process Technical Design Team Leader : Workflow: Same as above Business Practice Standards: Set up of a Project Office,using PMBOK. Included: establishment of project templates for Project Prioritisasion, Project Plans, Change Requests, Status Reports, FNB Specific Project Dashboards, Quality Checking all completed templates of the Project Managers and provided support to the Project Community with regards to Project Management, implementation of the PSNext Project Management tool (now called Sciforma). Workflow/Process Technical Design Team Leader : MANCO member for FNB’s Business Development Department, specifically responsible for the Workflow team, but also due to a shortage of skilled staff, I assisted my team (of 6) with process development, JAD Workshops, Specifications etc. I was responsible for the set up and following of development and quality standards within the SDLC, since Workflow was new to FNB. I quality checked process and workflow development and coached & up skilled staff on Process and Workflow. Management duties included: Management of staff, leave, Performance Reviews, Performance Contracts, Resource allocation to projects, Management Reporting Senior Business Analyst & Workflow and Process Analyst /AWD Technical Design Team Leader & Workflow and Process Analyst : A Workflow, Imaging and Business Process re-engineering Project had just kicked off within FNB Homeloans. I have been one of two Senior Business Analysts who were responsible the roll-out, facilitation of JAD workshops, assisted in development, testing, training and change management of users.
