First Things First, Agile Coach
March 2008 - August 2009, Phoenix, AZ, United States

Joining a newly created state agency serving early childhood in Arizona, this contract required acquiring all the infrastructure and resources to support the following applications: a grant management system, a quality improvement rating system for child care providers in Arizona, an intranet/extranet, a website and a data warehouse to track and report on key measures regarding early childhood. My role was managing this project to completion, as well as introducing Agile to the organization and coach many state employees into their new roles associated to Scrum. This was the first project approved by the Government Information Technology Agency (GITA) to use Agile, and although it was initially received with strong skepticism, it ultimately attracted the attention of other state agencies to closely observe this project. This overwhelming success was mostly due to the speed to market key deliverables and the overall satisfaction from the Executive Director at First Things First.
