Biography

Debasish is currently working in MASTEK Ltd as a Process Champion and Process Facilitator in the Corporate Function Organization Process Group.  The basic role of a Process Champion is like a practitioner whose “been there done that” and brings to Project teams a wealth of experience and expertise in Project management and processes. As a Process Facilitator his basic role is to identify practices, processes, process effectiveness, setting goals, facilitate audits, closure of non-conformances and last but not the least as a Single Point of Contact for all process definition, refinement and improvement related to any particular project and/or verticals or Business Unit.   Prior to joining MASTEK, Debasish was working as the Manager Six Sigma and Quality for SYNTEL Ltd in Mumbai.  He was leading the Six Sigma Initiative across the organization. He was also the SPOC as Quality Manager for the entire BPO Organization. He is a Certified SIX-SIGMA BLACK BELT. As part of SYNTEL responsibilities, he was involved in preaching the Six Sigma culture within the total organization.  He was also working as the SQA Team Lead for one of the major verticals in the organization. Earlier for the last 8 years he worked in PATNI COMPUTER SYSTEMS Ltd. In PATNI, he was the SPOC Six Sigma Black Belt heading the initiative for a total population of GE-GDC of about 570+ people.  During his stint in PATNI, he had been performing at different times as Program Manager, SQA Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt as well as Crisis Management Leader . As a Six Sigma Black Belt in both Patni Computers and Syntel Ltd, Debasish has in all mentored around 400+ Green Belt Projects and around 10+ Black Belt Projects till completion with results. He was also selected by GE PMO Team of GE Financial Services to work as the GDC Operations Manager for GENERAL ELECTRIC, being loaned out by PATNI. That was towards the Global Program Management Area and involved all the GE GDCs.  That included Software Quality Process adherence as well Six Sigma. Before that he worked as a successful Project Manager in the Software delivery sector. He has worked on-site in USA as well as offshore as a Project leader and Project manager for crucial projects and coordinated offshore development of other applications for different businesses for GE.  He has over 16 years experience in software development, support and maintenance, leadership & Project Management of application teams, Program Management as well Quality Management and Six Sigma.  Being initially from the software development side, he has sound knowledge and experience in SDLC Process, Software Quality Process, starting from ISO 9000, CMM Level 5 and CMMI Level 5, SQA as well as SEPG areas. He was a Lead Quality Internal Auditor in his previous company.  His Core competencies lie in Software Quality Process, especially Six Sigma Initiative.
