Brendan Wovchko is a senior technology adviser who partners with courageous companies to facilitate the radical transformation of software development teams — specializing in project rescues and team turnarounds. He is an authority on leading business, technical, and creative professionals in implementing Agile/Scrum — coaching teams to become self-organizing, cross-disciplinary, and delivery-minded.
In each of his engagements Wovchko partners with executive leadership as a ring-leader to evangelize the operational and fiscal benefits of organizing product development teams by disciplines, not departments.
In recent roles Wovchko has served as VP/Technology, VP/Product, and Chief Technology Officer. In each role he has overseen product development for multiple teams and products, in parity, with budgets ranging between $1MM to $15MM.
Aside from his organizational titles he has served as Scrum Master (certified), Product Owner (certified), and Architect in the Agile/Scrum management framework.
Wovchko began developing applications for the web 15 years ago — in “simpler times”. In many cases he has held the role of each of the people he leads — from front-end to back-end. These personal experiences have produced perspective — allowing him to effectively identify bloated time estimates, facilitate expectations between management and teams, create an atmosphere where teams feel both challenged and successful, and coach team members through frustration to find joy in their work.
In May 2008 Wovchko was recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as a “social networking expert”.
Wovchko considers himself a student at the intersection of technology and product development. He's been privileged to collaborate with exciting and recognized brands — among them are Avon, Hearst-Argyle, Sony, Warner Music, EMI, Universal Music, Thrillist, Emma, Huffington Post, Interspire, Fergie, Taylor Swift, Natasha Bedingfield, Reba McEntire, Keith Urban, Jewel, and Anschutz Film Group.
