We held our largest Open Space ever! Attendees came to the opening session of Open Space with issues or ideas they wanted to discuss, presented them (sometimes very creatively), and posted them on a wall with a time and place to meet. More than 40 varied sessions were offered, including Scrum to Lose Weight, Mindful Meditation, Women in Scrum, How to Start Your Team Kick-off Meeting, and Metrics that Work.
Adam Weisbart organized and facilitated the Open Space. His enthusiasm for Scrum and conversation was evident and quickly spread to all attendees as they decided which sessions they’d like to attend.
Throughout the day, attendees lived by the Four Principles of Open Space as chose the open space they wanted to attend, then showed up to take part in the discussion:
Whoever comes are the right people
Whatever happens is the only thing that could have
Whenever it starts it the right time
When it’s over, it’s over
Equally important, if attendees felt they were not contributing to or benefiting from a session, they applied the "Law of Two Feet," and moved on to another that was more relevant to their situation.
