Letter from the Managing Director

More than 5,000 ballots were cast over 14 days and the two newest members of the Scrum Alliance Board of Directors have been elected!

Pete Deemer, CSM, CSP, CST received the highest number of votes and will serve a three-year term on our Board of Directors. Bob Hartman, CSPO, CSM, CSP, CSC, CST, who received the second-highest vote tally, will serve a one-year term. Both Pete and Bob are excited to start their terms January 1, 2013.

I was delighted to see such eager participation by the membership during every step of this election. There were over 100 member-submitted nominations and I appreciate all the hard work the Nominating Committee did to narrow down such a strong pool of contenders to only six candidates.

"I'm very honored to have been chosen from among this impressive list of candidates, and I'm looking forward to serving the Scrum Alliance community in this role!" said India-based CST Pete Deemer.

"It is a great honor to be elected to be a member of the Scrum Alliance Board of Directors," said CST Bob Hartman, known to his clients as Agile Bob. "I look forward to getting to know the other board members and working with them to help Scrum Alliance be a great organization. Hopefully my perspective, skills, and experience will complement the board in ways that will be helpful. I'm really looking forward to what will be accomplished in 2013!"

On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Scrum Alliance membership, I welcome Pete and Bob into their new roles. We look forward to the exchange of ideas and their leadership on the board. Last but not least, I also want to extend my sincerest thanks to all of this year's candidates for their desire to help guide Scrum Alliance toward a bright future.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season,

Carol McEwan

Key Arguments to Sell Scrum to Your Boss
by Robert Karlsson

Image

Why should your boss let you implement Scrum in your organization? Things are already working, and they get their results.

Well, one thing that I've noticed is always hard on the development side is to quickly respond to changes. The marketers, business, sales, and production staff usually need things to be done now, because, well, now is now and tomorrow is tomorrow.
